Pathfinding mentorship for
physique aesthetics craftsmen.
Bodybuilding basis.
Mentorship driven.
Pathfinding focus.
Pursue your passion for
bodybuilding
beyond just bodybuilding.
The PhysiQademy offers unique pathfinding mentorship specifically for physique aesthetics craftsmen.
The PhysiQademy is not just about mastering craftsmanship in bodybuilding. Although it does that for sure. But bodybuilding & strength practices are full of useful perspectives beyond physical ability.
It’s a peer-focused curriculum that explores physique development practices in an exciting, exploratory way. Through critical thinking and academic discussion, we mine the craft for practical insights, and apply them to pathfinding in career directions, leadership skills, and other areas of personal growth.
The mentorship is for well-established journeymen in the craft of physique aesthetics development. (The guys who are commonly called “bodybuilders.”) Because the curriculum goes well beyond training, bodybuilding, and competition, The PhysiQademy is suited best for those who have established disciplines and competitive passion for the craft.
Let’s use your passion to clarify your path.
Then use imagination to create plans to follow it.
Craft
| Kraft | n.
an activity involving skill in making things by hand
Physique aesthetic development is a type of craftwork.
Bodybuilding, weightlifting, powerbuilding, powerlifting; these are all types of craftsmanship.
When regarded this way, the craftsman becomes more than just a lifter. He becomes a creator who expresses ideas.
Within these ideas are perspectives and self-discoveries that go far beyond just “building a physique.”
Let’s apply these tools to how we can live our lives more authentically, purposefully, and with real impact.
A community of passion which became an academy for pathfinding.
Pretty much every part of the PhysiQademy story is an unlikely journey.
A project started in 2000 to build a community based on shared passion for bodybuilding gradually evolved over the course of a quarter century into a coaching and mentorship curriculum guiding Journeymen in the craft of physique aesthetics on meaningful journeys.
Founder and head mentor, Christian Matyi (aka, “XN”) had started out simply seeking like-minded passionate community in bodybuilding. His discoveries and experiences grew the process into a structured approach for advancing physique craftsmanship and applying the lessons found there towards personal enrichment.
Over the years, from team to team and physique to physique, the curriculum of the PhysiQademy has arisen from cumulative experience and continued experimentation. One part bodybuilding, one part critical thinking, and no small part personal expression and passion, it’s an education in applied physique aesthetics unlike anything else.
The PhysiQademy Founder &
Head Mentor
A pioneer of pathfinding.
There have been many ways Christian Matyi has been described. Artist, leader, coach, pundit, speaker, comic, and even wizard from time to time.
But no matter how he is regarded, his passion for training folks to use their imagination and develop independent methods of goal achievement is what is most noticeable in his work as head PhysiQademy mentor.
With three decades of experience in strength and bodybuilding practices, and a lifetime of theory-building and aesthetics investigation, “XN” (as he is often abbreviated) has created an ever-growing and evolving curriculum that scores (hundreds?) of journeymen have benefited from.
Physique aesthetics is a craft.
So it makes sense to call you
JOURNEYMEN.
Driven by their deep passion. Guided by their clear vision.
Beyond just bodybuilders, lifters, and athletes, journeymen in the PhysiQademy are true practitioners of aesthetic craft. These are not just gym rats and strongmen, nor athletes whose potential is defined by narrow competitive goals.
Journeymen are thinkers, creators, leaders, and achievers. They are individuals who evolve to become professionals, artists, speakers, and educators. They use the momentum and critical thinking of their craftwork to get a clearer understanding of their talents, capacities and skills.
Every journeyman has influenced and informed the PhysiQademy’s curriculum in an ongoing flow ovet the decades. It’s a legacy of some very impressive humans whose work means something and leaves impact.

Common Questions
-
Not really, but that sort of framework is not a bad analogy for the mentoring.
While the PhysiQademy is not intended to be a therapeutic process nor a career builder, very often directions and tools are evolved which offer those sorts of benefits. Which is not coincidental, but by design.
We’d hesitate to call it life coaching specifically, however, simply because each journeyman gains assets unique to their own circumstances.
-
Not really.
The PhysiQademy is a program for those who have well-established practices in physique development, and a degree of accomplishment under their belt.
-
Nope. Most of the curriculum is workshop based. Some times we will use gym spaces for certain work, but this is otherwise an “over-the-table” mentorship.
-
Yes.
We use competition int he curriculum as a structuring and discovery process for learning aptitudes and encouraging critical research.
Eagerness to do a contest at an appropriate, beginner level is part of the work.
-
Not really.
While it’s great to know you want to get in shape, this mentorship is for is not about purchasing help with cosmetic goals.
-
Not really. While most PhysiQademy courses include extensive contest and competition preparation services, the goal of the process is not just to do a contest.
-
Program lengths vary, and are completed after certain individually-focused goals are achieved.
Most team and individual mentorship programs last 8 to 12 months, with some lasting 18 to 24 months, by request of the journeyman.
Consultation courses are more limited, and last between 4 to 12 weeks.
-
Yes.
We can set up mentorships for those who do not live close to Boston, Massachusetts, where the PhysiQademy is centered.
-
Not yet.
This is a mentorship process that borrows structure from many disciplines, including academia.
The reason we use the “academy” concept is our education has guiding philosophies and ethical principles which shape it.
-
The PhysiQademy is very dedicatedly not a fit for those who choose to use steroids or similar enhancement. In fact, we’re deeply proud that our journeymen are all drug free.
Occasionally we can offer limited consulting for men who use steroids on specific topics, so feel free to inquire.
-
Over the years the PhysiQademy has had journeymen from the 50s down to the late teens, and everything in between.
However, the sweet spot seems to be between 20 and 28. While we welcome all ages, this curriculum seems best fit for that age.
-
Heck yeah!
The PhysiQademy curricula expands on concepts and ideas in ways that allow professionals in the fitness industry to develop new tools and approaches to their work.
-
On rare occasions, we will offer mentorship to women.
However, head mentor Christian Matyi believes strongly that a process that impacts a female body is best mentored by someone who has experience being in a female body.
So the PhysiQademy remains almost exclusively for men as a way of guiding women to more appropriate educational resources.
